From my family to yours,
In this busy time of year,
Wishes of goodwill and peace,
And the best of cheer.

For centuries ago,
One dark, cold night,
In a stable so low,
Was born Heaven’s Light.

Not of gret estate,
But of lowest born,
The King of Glory,
Only to be scorned.

Perfect among men,
Sinless and without blame,
In wisdom and power,
The son of God came.

Upon a cruel cross,
Our sins gladly bore,
So that man might be saved,
And live forevermore.

So in this time of love,
In the cheer of the season,
Let’s not forget,
That Christ is the reason.

I truly do wish you and your family the best this Christmas season, but I do pray that we not forget the true reason for the season. Even the very name (which many are now trying to stamp out) of Christmas tells of the reason we celebrate and commemorate the birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

In this season of hustle and bustle, many forget to stop and remember that 2,000 years ago, the King of Glory came to earth to be born miraculously of a virgin in order to bring salvation from sin and eternal life back to fallen mankind. While in this day and age, many people discredit His deity or consider Him just a great man (putting Him in the same group as Ghandi and Mother Teresa) or a prophet, my hope is in the truth that He is the Son of God, sent down to man to bring salvation, forgiveness, and redemption.

But, this young child laying in the manger, could he truly be the Messiah? Emmanuel? Yes, He was… Such is the reason that we celebrate this holiday, this Christmas, and the reason that I wish you not a Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings, not a Happy Non-offensive Holiday, but a Very Merry Christmas to you and yours!
